OUR MEAL SERVICES

The majority of Meals on Wheels clients are enrolled in the traditional program—home-delivered meals. However, based on an individual’s age, health and mobility status, one of the other programs may be more appropriate. The eligibility, delivery and enrollment process differs by program. Home-Delivered Meals

Home-delivered meals are designed to enhance the health and independence of homebound seniors and disabled individuals. If you are over 60 and unable to safely shop for or prepare meals OR if you are under 60 and disabled, this may be the program for you.

Meals Express

Meals Express is the home-delivered meals program for individuals who don’t meet the traditional criteria or who do not want to be part of a government program. Meals Express is great as a respite for involved families, or for individuals on bed rest, undergoing rehab, with a specific nutritional need and even for people who want healthy nutrition and don’t like to cook.

Meals on Wheels has the capacity to produce large quantities of safe, healthy, delicious food very efficiently. You can purchase food from Meals on Wheels for your day care, adult day care, hospital, school, nursing home, retirement complex or other facility.

Stay Fit Dining icon

Congregate “Stay Fit” Dining

If you are over 60 (or married to someone over 60) and mobile, you are eligible to receive meals through Erie County’s “Stay Fit” dining program. Meals on Wheels only does food production for this program; you can find locations, times and other program information on the county’s website
here.

ANCILLARY SERVICES

AniMeals icon

AniMeals

All home-delivered clients with pets are eligible to receive free pet food once a month through the AniMeals program. This helps ensure that clients’ furry friends are cared for and that clients can enjoy the benefits of a pet companion. If interested, ask about AniMeals during enrollment.

Enlightenment on Wheels

Home-delivered clients who live in South Buffalo and the surrounding area are eligible for free, used books through the Dog Ears Bookstore. If you are interested in this program, ask about it during enrollment to see if you live in the store’s delivery area.
