When you make a contribution to the Meals on Wheels Foundation, you're investing in a better life for the elderly and disabled in your community. You become a partner with the Foundation not only in providing nutritious meals, but in enabling frail homebound seniors to maintain their independence and quality of life.
Most Meals on Wheels recipients are asked to make a voluntary, confidential contribution to defray their meal costs. However, the generosity of Western New Yorkers ensures that no needy senior is denied service because he or she is unable to contribute. Gifts to the Foundation also ensure that this vital community service will continue and will expand to help serve those in areas where meal-delivery programs aren’t yet available.
Meals on Wheels Foundation of Western New York, Inc. has met Better Business Bureaus 20 Standards for Charity Accountability and is a BBB Accredited Charity. You can view Meals on Wheels Foundation of Western New York’s full Charity Review online at www.bbb.org.
Gifts of cash help support the Meals on Wheels program, which faces an annual funding gap. Your cash contributions help pay for everything from raw food products and equipment to training for staff and upkeep on the Meals on Wheels facility.
You are welcome to make a contribution commemorating an important event in the life of a loved one. In this case, Meals on Wheels will notify the honoree if desired. You can also make a gift "In Memory of" a loved one who has recently passed or on the anniversary of a loved one's passing.
You can make a pledge through your company's payroll deduction program. You can designate some or all of your United Way, Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), and State Employee Federated Appeal (SEFA) gift to Meals on Wheels for WNY.
Ask your Human Resources officer if your company matches charitable gifts. If so, the corporation will match any gift that you make to Meals on Wheels for WNY, effectively doubling it.
In addition to supporting meal delivery and operations, Meals on Wheels is also fundraising for a couple of specific needs.
Meals on Wheels is in the final stages of fundraising for new meal delivery equipment - including hundreds of hot box ovens, oven covers, and kitchen racks for morning heat-up. These ovens are a crucial part in ensuring that food stays at the correct, safe temperature during delivery no matter the temperature outside.
Meals on Wheels also is fundraising for a wide array of commissary equipment. Many of the pieces of commercial equipment have been used in the kitchen for 10, 20, even 30 years. Crucial items are getting to a place where they can no longer be repaired and must be replaced. If you are interested in assisting with funding our commissary equipment please reach out to us and we can provide more detail.
Meals on Wheels for WNY is always looking for business sponsors to assist with everything from event support to professional services such as video production and technical assistance.
Opportunities also exist for businesses to sponsor needed supplies such as oven covers, meal delivery bags, meal labels and client birthday gifts.
