Walsh Duffield Receive Volunteer Award

Last night, Walsh Duffield Companies, Inc. was honored with the “Commitment to Service” award at the Volunteer Why Not You awards ceremony due to their tremendous support of Meals on Wheels for WNY.

Walsh Duffield is an Adopt-A-Route partner for Meals on Wheels, which means that their dedicated staff work as a team to take turns delivering meals every Tuesday on the West Side of Buffalo. This helps provide much needed stability to our delivery force at our largest city site. Also, the regular deliveries foster friendships, which mean just as much as the food to our homebound clientele.

Approximately 15 of Walsh Duffield’s employees participate in the Adopt-A-Route program – almost a quarter of all staff! These employees give generously of their time and eagerly go out to deliver to Meals on Wheels clients on the West Side of Buffalo. This commitment truly represents a company value, with the program being supported from the highest level – Ted Walsh, President and COO, also goes out and delivers and encourages others to as well! In addition, Ted has been a passionate ambassador for Meals on Wheels. He has helped advocate with local foundations and corporations for support and also has helped foster new relationships and critical community collaborations.

Walsh Duffield is an annual donor to our largest annual fundraising event – Plate Expectations – and one of their vice presidents, Stephen Mayo, serves on the Plate Expectations committee as past chair. He continues to be one of our most significant committee members in terms of bringing in sponsorship dollars and ironing out operational details. Mayo also is a Meals on Wheels Foundation of WNY board member and long-term meal delivery volunteer.

Partners like Walsh Duffield are a big part of our ability to successfully serve those in need.
