MOW President & CEO Tara A. Ellis Receives Outstanding Alumnus Award

SyracuseAlumAward-May2016-WebStoryOn May 15, Meals on Wheels for WNY President and CEO Tara A. Ellis was honored with the Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Syracuse University Alumni Club of WNY at their Annual Scholarship Banquet.

Each year, the club’s board of directors selects a local alumna with a record of service and philanthropy including, but not limited to financial support, time and talent.

Honorees display characteristics in line with key values of Syracuse University such as breaking boundaries, a concern for others, a desire to change the lives of others for the better, and/or success in their professional life. Ellis was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the Western New York community.

“As a proud alumna of Syracuse University, I am honored to receive this award,” Ellis said. “At Meals on Wheels, we have the everyday gift of changing the lives of others, which is in alignment with the core values of the university. I am humbled by this honor.”

Ellis earned her Master’s in Public Communications at the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University in 1993 and has served as President and CEO of Meals on Wheels since spring 2012. She currently serves as President of the board of Buffalo Seminary Alumnae Association, on the board of NANASP (National Association Nutrition Aging Service Providers), and is a longstanding member of the Junior League of Buffalo, in addition to many other volunteer efforts.
