On Tuesday, April 26, more than 210 Meals on Wheels clients in the Cheektowaga area received gift bags from Sisters of Charity Hospital (both their Main Street & St. Joseph campuses) – with donations brought in by hospital staff, and Meals on Wheels for WNY.
The “spring sundries” program provides those in the community with necessities and niceties such as tissues, toothpaste, lotion, cards, stuffed animals and other small gifts in celebration of the spring season.
The gift bags were blessed at Sisters of Charity Hospital’s St. Joseph Campus and then loaded into vans for delivery to the Meals on Wheels sites.
Paula Moscato, Vice President, Mission Integration at Sisters Hospital and Tara A. Ellis, President and CEO of Meals on Wheels for WNY, shared a few words.
“Most of our clients are homebound and many are alone,” Ellis said. “For the frail elderly or disabled, the gift of these sundries is deeply appreciated. The practical gifts are both used and needed, and many of our clients are touched to know that someone is thinking about them and wants them to have a special spring gift.”
