Last night, Meals on Wheels for WNY held its 11th annual Plate Expectations event, with a theme of “Celebrating 45 Years of Meals on Wheels.” Nearly 400 people came out to attend the celebration at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens – including staff, volunteers, board members, sponsors, media partners, client caregivers and people new to Meals on Wheels.
The event was a wonderful opportunity for the community to support the work of Meals on Wheels – with many purchasing wine from the wall of wine, taking home incredible silent auction items and popping a balloon for a guaranteed prize. Eleven people also took home incredible packages – such as trips, jewerly, and priceless experiences – in our first ever live auction.
Three community partners were honored with special awards, including:
- Msgr. Geary Apartments received the Partnership Award
- David Collins Productions received the Friend of the Community Award
- Canisius College received the Corporate Volunteer Award
A huge thank you to the entire community for supporting this important fundraiser which makes it possible for us to provide food and friendship to the homebound seniors and disabled in our community. And, an extra thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors – including our gold sponsors M&T Bank and Tops Friendly Markets, and our media sponsors, WGRZ-TV, Buffalo Business First, WNED-WBFO radio, Grover Cleveland Press and David Collins Productions.
